PROJECT DETAILS COLGATE-PALMOLIVE Client: Colgate-Palmolive India Ltd. Location: Office Park, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai Area: 1.3 lacs sq.ft. Completed: 1999 Associate architect: Hiten Negandhi & Sunil Gambani (interiors)  The building is a unique mix of classical and modern architecture derived from the context of its surroundings and the need of the clients to project a corporate image. The roughly c-shaped plan with a four-floor high atrium lends a visual transparency to the entire office. It has an open office system with specially designed furniture, the only enclosed spaces being the conference rooms and the MD’s cabin. The materials used reflect an Indianess while retaining a corporate flavour; carved sandstone railings, marble flooring with inlay work of blue Lapis and red Jasper , art deco furniture. The entrance has a wooden jharokha wall painted black and sporting the company logo. The atrium makes the building energy efficient and lends it an air of opulence achieved at a cost that belies the finished product. |
